As a lifelong musician, writer, and educator, I bring a unique combination of experience, passion, and insight to the conversation about music. I’ve performed nearly a thousand shows with previous bands across the East Coast and Upstate New York, blending the practical knowledge of a working musician with a deep academic and creative understanding of music. Owning and operating Descant Music and Art Studio in Holyoke, MA, I’ve had the privilege of guiding students from their first tentative notes to full-fledged musicianship, witnessing firsthand the transformative power of music.

My approach to writing reflects this wide-ranging experience. Whether I’m exploring the psychology and philosophy of music, breaking down complex music theory concepts, or reflecting on the emotional depth of lyrical storytelling, I aim to connect readers to the heart of the art form. I draw on my formal studies in music, my hands-on experience in composition and performance, and my fascination with the ways music intersects with culture, identity, and human emotion. I’m equally comfortable diving deep into the mechanics of songwriting as I am exploring the broader, existential questions of why music moves us the way it does.

Instead, I use it to refine grammar, enhance readability, and ensure my voice comes through with clarity and precision. Honestly, in my opinion, it would be silly not to use such a powerful tool responsibly. But I’m keenly aware of its limitations and the tropes of AI-generated writing, and I take extra care to ensure that every piece I deliver is truly my own voice.
